There brains are primed for risk-taking and learning. Because their frontal lobes do not fully develop until early to mid twenties, teens have a harder time controlling impulses, emotions, thinking ahead, judging, and weighing risks. In short summary, teen brains are in a period of hyper growth development, and are hyper sensitive to external effects like stress, emotions, alcohol, drugs, concussions, etc., which consequently makes them highly vulnerable to addictions and a variety of mental health disorders that will carry with them through their adult years.
